Suniel Shetty, to many known as Anna, was born in a ethnic Bunt family on August 11th, 1961, in Mulki, India. His nuclear family consisted of five members, his parents Mr. Veeraapa and Mrs. Prema V. Shetty and sisters--the elder being Sujata R. Hedge and the youngest being Sumitha Tarun Pratap. However, despite of being born in Mangalore, he was brought up in the heart of India--Mumbai. As an infant he attended Palm Beach High School and then received his degree in Hotel Management from H.R College in Mumbai. Although he was mischievous as child, his sense of responsibility was built in from a very young age. As a teenager itself he began to assist his father's hotel business where he truly learnt the hardships of life. A stronger believer in following your passion--he continued to excel in sports such as Cricket and Martial Arts. His creative nature thrived to do something more and therefore opened a clothing boutique in 1987 of designer wear known as Mischief. Due to it's tremendous success he decided to branch out and open another boutique with his friends in 1989, known as More Mischief. Simultaneously juggling between his boutique and working beside his father--Suniel felt compelled to further his education and joined Sophia College of Catering where he met his future wife Mana Kadri.

In 1991 love culminated in marriage to Monisha (Mana) after a courtship of nine years. She too is a fashion designer by profession and has her own designer label called "VIVRE" for women. They have two lovely children daughter Athiya Shetty and son Ahan Shetty. In the year 1991, Suniel surrendered to becoming an Actor. Some were impressed by his striking physique and some by his honest personality which gave him his first commercial break, Balwan.

Today, not only has Suniel proved himself to be a successful actor but also a successful entrepreneur. He has recently started his own Company, S. S. Enterprises & M/s Prankster Inn Pvt Ltd., which deals with real estate whereby it has invested in various properties.
